Alepoi Kawakami is a multidisciplinary creative director and designer born and raised in Honolulu, Hawai‘i. His creative foundation was shaped in his hometown, where he worked across campaigns and visuals for artists and brands deeply rooted in local culture—including Franskiiz, Common Kings, SALT at Our Kaka‘ako, and a special collaboration between Merrie Monarch and Da Hui, two of Hawai‘i’s most iconic cultural institutions.

 

After briefly studying Graphic Design at Western Oregon University, Alepoi pivoted to pursue real-world experience—collaborating with Kawelo on the breakout track “Hoops” (12M+ views), which opened the door for more opportunities in the music space.

 

In 2020, he relocated to Los Angeles and was appointed Creative Director for the rising pop duo Calabasas (Def Jam Recordings), who have collaborated with Kanye West and other notable talents. Alepoi’s visual direction helped define the duo’s identity, supporting major releases like “First Time Thing” (24M+ streams) and “Gory Love” (13M+ streams). Through this, his work has been featured in campaigns affiliated with Def Jam, Universal Music Group, Columbia Records, and BU Vision, and showcased at high-profile events like the Jingle Ball Festival and in films such as DreamWorks’ Ruby Gillman, Teenage Kraken.

 

Alepoi’s visual style has been featured on platforms like Genius, Elevator, Lyrical Lemonade, and Sheesh Media, leading to collaborations with Spotify RADAR artists such as Croosh, YeloHill, and 8RO8. He’s also worked with Marc E. Bassy, continuing to build across both mainstream and independent music spaces.
